Halloween night costumes were......

As much as I adored George's homemade skeleton costume, I just couldn't get him to wear it the night of Halloween. We found a random-doesn't-belong-to-us-is-anybody-missing-this "Ninja Snake" costume buried in our dress-up box for him (paired with a homemade ninja mask), an old astronaut outfit for Cash (he wouldn't wear the super-cute helmet), and for James I made/pulled together  a Super Mario get-up. Cash had an accident about 30 minutes into the festivities, at which point we pulled out his prior-year Spiderman costume. It was all good.

Skeletal George

At George's preschool all the children spend time developing and crafting their own Halloween costumes for a special trick-or-treating held event at the school. Last year I was able to go in and photograph all the children individually wearing their unique costumes. This year I wasn't able to make it but I was able to capture George in his, a skeleton, at our home. Have a look below:

Here are last years' costumes:

Our Michigan Lake Adventure, Round Two

Over the summer our friends, the Knapp family, invited use to spend the afternoon with them at their parents' lake house located about 25 minutes from Nani's home. It was the 4th of July (or some time around there) and we happily piled into the car and ventured their way. The boys had a blast! We swam, went for a boat ride, took a spin on the jetskis, and watched fireworks. You can see some photos of our adventure there the previous summer here. Thank you to Sarah, Scott, William, Holden, and especially Sarah's parents for having us over once again!

James Does Kindergarten!

My James started kinder this week! We are still adjusting to the new schedule (of course), and I'm thinking next week will be more difficult when he realizes he has to go for 5 days straight. But, so far so good. He's in a Spanish Immersion program at our local school, and we are so excited for the year ahead. Below are some pictures from last week's orientation (black and white), and the first day (color).
