NYC

We've been meaning to get back for a while now.  During our trip to Michigan, Fran and I got to escape to one of my favorite places, New York City.  I just love it there, and I know I'm not alone.  The energy is beyond words, and every time I visit I leave wanting to pack up my family to make a new life for ourselves out there.
Tanya and Chris (from Michigan) and Vince and Katie (from Boston) went with us on our trip.  It was awesome to eat, drink, shop and sight-see with these folks.  We visited a number of great hotels: The Ace Hotel, Gramercy Park Hotel, and the new Gansevoort Hotel.  And we dined at some really cool and yummy places: Momofuku Ssam, The Breslin (more drinking), and the Vinegar Hill House (best reuben ever).  During our visit we stayed at The Bowery and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an hip yet cozy place to spend their trip.
I didn't take my Contax 645 on this trip and took the Fujifilm GF670 instead.  I intended on taking a ton of photos, but in the end, not so many.  I only took it out with me a couple of times and most of the time it stayed in my purse.  Bummer.

Playtime with Auntie Brooke

These were taken during Auntie Brooke's summer visit.
Imitation is the best form of flattery.  Sorry Brooke, I had to do it:

Before We Get to Thanksgiving....

Perhaps I should post the photos of the previous holiday?  Makes sense.  I don't really have that many because George really took off on his walking that week and quite the busy boy.  He growled like a monster at passer-bys and at the couple of doors he trotted up to.  James was able to get down the "treat" part of the saying "trick-or-treat".  We spent the evening in Rochester, MI with our friends, the Demetrals.  It was a great night out.

The Spiderman Chronicles

It's getting closer to Halloween but we're no closer to deciding what to be for the occasion.  For fun I picked up this Spiderman costume at the local shop and each of the boys picked our their favorite part to wear.

All square format photos taken with the Fujifilm GF670.  All others with the Canon 1V.  Film was Kodak Tri-X 400.  Developed and scanned at Fromex, my friendly local lab.

Yep I know, eyes are closed above, but I love my boy's face in this one.

Emotions

Sometimes you don't always get your way:

That's why it's nice to have a cousin and friend who will comfort you during your meltdown:

But you better get over it quick 'cause life keeps on moving, and there's fun to be had:

Gloucester Beach Vacation - An Introduction

This summer has gone by so fast!  I can't believe we are already at the end of August and I am just getting around to posting these.
Late last spring we decided it would be great to rent a beach cottage somewhere on the Boston coast.  I started stalking Craig's List and other vacation outlets for options but because I was pretty late in the game, there wasn't a ton out there.  Fortunately for me, I jumped online late one night and happened across a CL posting with no photos but a pretty good description of a house for rent on Wingaersheek Beach in Gloucester, MA.  It was perfect because it was close enough for my family and friends to come and go as they pleased, and it was situated on a private stretch of the ocean where the kids could play and soak up the water (not to mention that the photos they sent later had just the right amount of New England charm I was hoping for).
We were not disappointed.
103 Archer turned out to be a perfect place for my family and friends to come together and enjoy one another in the summer sun.  I loved walking out to the ocean up the sandy path through the beach grass and catching a glimpse of James running around like crazy and playing in the sand.  We had cookouts and took walks. We visited Rockport and Gloucester.  We drank a lot of Coronas.  It was definitely a special, magical place for our first go at renting a beach cottage.  Definitely looking forward to next year!

I have a ton of photos to post and was initially thinking I would do it all in one installment, but it's proving too difficult with the daily jugglings of life.  In lieu of that, I'm going to do several smaller posts until I catch up.  All of these photos are a mix of film taken on my Contax 645 and my Fujifilm GF670.  The square ones are shot 6x6 on the GF670.  All developed and scanned at Richard's Photo Lab here in LA.
